Cryogenic air separation(ASU), engineered to order

Worldwide installation · Technical response within 24 hours

01

Air Compression

Atmospheric air is filtered and compressed to the process pressure by a main air compressor.

02

Air Purification

Moisture, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons are removed in a molecular sieve switching system before the air enters the cold box.

03

Cryogenic Cooling

The purified air is cooled in the main heat exchanger and further expanded through a turbo expander to reach liquefaction temperature.

04

Distillation Separation

Oxygen, nitrogen and argon are separated in the distillation columns and drawn off at the required purity and pressure.

05

Storage & Delivery

Product gas flows to storage, pipeline networks or customer filling stations through the designed delivery system.

Air Compressor

Main air compressor sized for the plant capacity, operating conditions and site power supply.

Molecular Sieve Purification

Automatic switching adsorbers that remove CO₂, water and trace hydrocarbons.

Cold Box

Insulated cold box containing the plate-fin heat exchangers, distillation columns and cryogenic pipework.

Heat Exchanger

Main heat exchanger that transfers cold between product and feed streams to reduce energy demand.

Distillation Column

Upper and lower columns producing oxygen, nitrogen and argon fractions at design purity.

Turbo Expander

Provides the refrigeration required to maintain the cryogenic cycle.

Liquid Storage System

Backup liquid tank, vaporizer and delivery skid for peak demand or maintenance periods.

Control System

PLC or DCS platform with operator interface, interlocks, alarms and remote monitoring.

TECHNOLOGY BACKGROUND

What is a cryogenic air separation unit?

A cryogenic air separation unit (ASU) is an industrial system that separates atmospheric air into oxygen, nitrogen and argon through low-temperature distillation. Air is compressed, cleaned and cooled until it becomes a liquid, then separated in distillation columns where each gas is extracted at its own boiling temperature.

Because cryogenic separation scales efficiently, an ASU is normally the preferred technology for large gas volumes, high purity requirements and continuous operation — the typical conditions found in steel mills, chemical complexes, refineries and large industrial gas supply schemes.

04

Distillation

Liquid air is separated in a double column, where oxygen, nitrogen and argon are drawn off at different boiling temperatures and purities.
